Seeing no-one else answered I'll throw my hat in the ring...

It has been about 18 years since I rode a 1000RX, but I do remember liking the power, but not the ride position over the 900R.

The other thing to look at would be the longievity of the GPz900R. They were still available, brand new, in Japan as late as last year. That says something to me.

I'd be looking for an early '90's model (zx900a7 onwards) with the 17 inch front wheel before I'd buy a 1000RX.... Byt that's just me.

    Cheers,
    Pete

ive owned an 85 gpz900r and a 89 zx10, both for their year were kick ass, imo the 10 and the 9 were and are the beter bikes, as for the inbetween rx model, write ups in the past basicly called the rx a poor efort in comparison.

just a reminder that in 1984 the gpz900r won the production race at bathurst, i cant ever rememer the rx winning any thing.

I own a gpz 900r & a mate has an rx 1000. I dont like the style of either (upgrading to a zrx1200 soon) but the reliablity and performance on both are excellent. The thou will probably outdo my 900, but thats probably because my mate rides a bit harder than me

don't take this the wrong way but i would do some research before making comments like that................

if you had done you would have found that the '86' GPZ1000RX (not to be confused with the GPX1000RX which was the detuned RX) was named the WORLDS fastest production bike, and it even held that title till 1998 when the ZZR1100 took the title away

12 years with that title, not bad for a bike that didn't win anything by your recolection

oh and by the way do you know if it is still for sale ??

mine was just written off and i am looking for another

so my vote was for the 1000RX if you didn't notice LOL LOL

i was talking about raceing not top end speed stats, the gpz900r did win a race in 1984 the production race ,its printed in a australian book called bikes at bathhurst. and if the gpz1000rx was claimed to be the fastest bike in mass production,in 86 only to be out done by the zzr1100 in 98 , then what happend to the zx10 88-89 and the zzr1100 90-91 c mod, and the zzr1100 92-01 d mod ,and what happend to the honda blackbirds breef top speed victory in 98 only to be out done by the hayabusa in the same year, THE ZZR11OO WAS THE FASTEST BIKE IN MASS PRODUCTION FOR 12YEARS not the gpz1000rx, i have done my reseach, i have ownd a 85gpz900r, 89 zx10, 01 zzr1100 d9,along with 9 other kwakas, and all so the gpz1000rx did not reach the top speed to out do the88-90 zx10 thats fact. thats why khi built the zx10, and the zzr1100 in 90 was built to out do the zx10. PERIOD.
    my 9's like a N.D.E.
