    Default Rebuilding the rear shockies

The rat bike (97 E250) needs new shockies. Can the factory ones be disassembled. If the coiul over spring is compressed, can the locking piece for the preload adjustment be removed to take the spring off the shock. I want to clean/polish the components. Also any idea who makes lower shocks for hese bikes. I know I can have custom built jobs by Ikon or Hagon and others, just not sure I can justify the price. I saw some gabriel units on ebay recently too for about $160. Has anyone tried these?

I'd have a look around wreckers.
At that age they should be common enough and possibly cheap enough it's really not wourth you trouble.

I don't know your bike but the answer with these things is virtually always yes. Findng the method and tools can be a biach though.

A final (maybe) point. The word from Kawasaki and a well known suspension shop is the shocks on these bikes are not serviceable. There is apparently no need as there is no adjustment or servicable parts within. (SIGH)....

    Have you tried "Findapart".
Participating wreckers do postal. Trouble is you're buying on spec.

I've found some decent prices that way but have resolved my problems without proceeding so I cannot comment further.
