Default Wanted - GPX 250 AM Parts

    Hi All,

Im in need of a set of aftermarket slip on pipes for an 05 GPX250 (EX250F), the thing is too quiet, and a doulbe bubble screen. Condition must be good as it is going on a bike with only 7000 kays on it. I'm not interested so much in a full system, but if the price is right i'll consider it.

Please contact me either via forum or at meetone_89@hotmail.com

    Thanks

You can do some mucking around with the baffles or the back end of the mufflers. There is 6 hex bolts holding the end in. It's the same thing the cruiser riders did here to their bikes. You will have to search for the thread though.

There's only one online shop I know of that sell aftermarket muffler's for a gpx 250, it's a full system but looks pretty good.

$700 for the cheapest and $900 for the most expensive, there's definitely not much difference between them though (just so you know).

that's for the cheap one, you can find the other two exhausts on the same site.

Sometime over the next month or so I will be having a go at chopping up and repacking my standard gpx mufflers and putting a how-to up on the forum.

Oh and Red Dragon, I haven't got 6 hex-bolts holding my end cap in :s

    I've got 3 rivets...

    EDIT: '98 gpx 250 btw.

Nothing a drill and 3 either tech-screws or pop-rivets won't fix. But I'm like that.

Mine has 6 pop rivets on each can, i spoke to my bike shop (Wright Motorcycles in Yass) and he recons its best left alone. Considering i only payed 3 grand for the bike, paying nearly 1k for pipes is a bit much i think. Thanks all for your replies though, and if anyone is stripping down a GPX please let me know

    Cheers,

Most bike shops will not recomend any work on your bike that is not orgional or genuine, I was thinking about a big bore kit a while back, and the mechanic at the shop seemed really against it, he was happy to do the work but seemed to really try and steer me away from it.

OH and as for the exhaust, my fatherinlaw has a fairly new vstar 650 (yamaha cruiser), which was really quiet, so he just drilled out holes in the end plate of the exhaust which made a fair bit of difference and didn't effect how the bike ran. He eventually cut the whole end plate out with a hole saw and still says that it hasn't negatively effected how the bike runs.

Back pressure is a funny thing, You only "NEED" so much for the motor to run correctly. But generally stock exhausts on most cars and motorbikes produce far more then you actually need, it's usually used as a method by manufacturers as a way to limit the power
