hey davo - when are back with the beast? any news?
  3. Hey Davo

When did you pick up the GS500? you were pretty quiet about it mate.

Speaking to Lonnie the other day about you and a ride down this way
and thought a suitable one would be down the highway to Batemans Bay
and then up Clyde mountain to Braidwood for lunch, and then further north
to the highway at Marulan where you (and us) can return home.

Anyway think about it when the weather gets better

PS almost picked up a GS myself, tossup between what I have and it
but price won in the end
  4. Hi Davo

Hope you have plenty of money in your pocket as the Aldi GPS units are on sale next thursday
They are better than last years with blue tooth for audio.

Just back from visiting junior in Qld, he trashed his Shoi helmet and picked up a Nolan Stoner
replica for him. While Dad was generous, also got the Scala blue tooth communications gizmo
as well. It allows him to use his Iphone for calls, MP3 and he has Tomtom downloaded.

He is just back from the sport riders 4 day Numbnuts ride, where the Iphone with GPS was mounted
in a Ram unit set up on the steering bearing of his CBR1000.

I got a call from his this morning while he was riding home on the Bruce highway after night shift,
you could not tell that he was on the bike at all during the conversation. He just said
"call dad" and the thing rang me. Ain't voice control wonderful?

Jim called this morning as well, so it seems that we are off for another bush ride later in the week.

  5. Hi Davo

Wish I could go for a ride, but have a problem that Jim will explain as I cant
sit on the bike yet,------ its a sin to get OLD.

I had a great time on the last Sutton Forest ride with the NSW group
but Lonnie hates crowds and comes into his own solo down a bush track.

I will be going to test drive a new Nissan X Trail that morning - may/maynot
buy a new one as they have a special deal with $6,500 off on the current
    run-out model.

Thanks for the invite, maybe next time you are down this way?

  6. Not to sure yet as I have found a nasty bug in it. Although the developer seems to think I haven't.... But I have not been asked to beta test software in the past for a good reason .... As I have knack for finding bugs and issues in software for some reason.
  7. I think when your ready things just seem to click. In the last 5 months ive done alot of riding (about 14,000km) this helped me get comfortable with the bike and how it handles. At the same time I have good days and bad one's. Im still struggling to put it all toggether at times. I try not to get too excited when I figure something out, rather apply it to my riding and constantly try to improve as a whole. Learning good throttle control was great though, its added a new dimension to my cornering. There are some corners where i still cut throttle so im constantly talking to myself/ analysing everything.

With maq pass and the tight corners i always take it very easy through there. I apply little throttle through the corners (its not the place to test yourself.) I go into the 2 hairpins very slowly in particular. The left hander i take tight and close to apex, i use the clutch and just slowly power up. The right hander i take very wide and normally clutch in as im going pretty slow.

Enjoyed the thread "Major breakthrough". Can't wait till one of those light bulbs moments happen. I've read some of the twist of the wrist I but hard to bash into my skull. If you have seen the section it has of braking, 104 decisions you can make to the task, over my head for sure!!
Need to ride more to put the book into practice.
Throttle control is a key ingredient it seems.

Did you go down mac pass and if so what would you believe would be a good way of tackling those hairpin 15-25 km/h (advisory signs) corners.
  9. Nah mate they were taken last week. Was with NSW Riders up near broke/wolombi. Dave from bikephoto took them.
Sounds like you had an awesome trip down south, tiring i bet.
