OK now we're cooking with gas.
Details have been sent to various websites and organisations and so date, meet-up time and place, route and destinations are set in concrete.

DATE: Saturday 18 October
MEET: Readings Cinema carpark, Chirnside Park Sopping Centre, Maroondah Hwy
TIME: 9.30 for 10.00am departure
ROUTE: Maroondah Hwy to Melba Hwy, to Yea, coffee stop, back through Toolangi and Chum Creek to Maroondah Reservoir Park for barbeque lunch.
COST: $10 donation. Surplus after park hire costs covered to Cancer Council Vic to be directed specifically to breast cancer research.
BYO: food & liquid refreshment. Free electric barbeques at park.

VixenAndrea has already recruited us one definite and one maybe :)

Can riders from here post yesses nos & maybes over the next few weeks so we can get a rough idea?

I'm going to try contact a coffee van so if someone knows of one or at the least a business name please let me know. On previous occassions the bloke has made a fair killing selling coffee then donated 10 cents per coffee or something like that to the charity, that's the arrangement i'd "like" to see again but previous PRR's have been 600+ people and this won't be close to that mark I don't reckon.

Hey there neighbours across the water :) i have been following your thread about the Pink Ribbon ride and am considering putting some floaties on the V2K and coming over for it if you will have me :p Nothing like this happening in Tassie. Will try and give you definate committment as soon as possible :D

Hey don't forget Mickdundee's driving this rig too!
You interstaters will be with us in spirit anyway :)
As for you Taswegians, the floaties are a GREAT idea - they work on planes and helicopters, so why not .....?

Tasvulcan
04-09-08, 06:44 PM
:D there are a couple of big red boats that nearly weigh as much as my baby but reckon the may float a bit better :D

i have also posted to all Mornington Wanderers Ulysses members - and asked them to forward to anyone they know who rides

mickdundee
04-09-08, 10:21 PM
Everyone and anyone is more than welcome, I don't cvare personally if they don't ride even, in fact I don't even care if tey dunno what a motorbike is, it's all about the charity, if they are prepared to donate then they can be 90yo naked with nipple tassles I care not, dare say I won't be looking either if that;s the case but yeah, it's open to everyone/anyone, aimeed at riders but by no means for riders only.

Tasvulcan
04-09-08, 10:24 PM
I realise that mick and I am 90% sure I will be there. Will see if I can make a Tassie contigent but if not I will fly the Tassie flag :D

Further update: I have now asked Healesville SES to be there and they will sell coffee, tea and soft drinks at reasonable costs so no need to byo liquids if you don't want (unless you want alcoholic beverages of course).

I'm seeking around 6 or more people to slap on a high vis vest and become corner markers so people don't lost, not a truckload of corners really but still rather we stuck together as a group where possible.

Please note there is NO police escort booked or indeed planned so obey red lights and speed at your own risk (goes without saying but I said it anyways).

My contact details if anyone wants to contact me mdundee@gmail.com or 0411 183 258.

Yes I know my email address will be farmed and i'll receive a ****load of spam but oh well I get heaps already anyways

Talk to Mickdundee about it..... has been an organisational nightmare, I don't know how he's managed to stay sane

Whatever gave you the impression I was sane to start with?? No updates on the catering side of the fence either sorry, might try boy scouts or something.

mickdundee
04-10-08, 12:29 PM
Update: Healesville boy scouts are "probably" coming to the rescue, i'll hear for sure on Wednesday. I've also had a recommendation for Yea and that's an old disused railway station there with plenty of accomodation for bikes, public toilets, fuel and food nearby.

mickdundee
10-10-08, 06:09 PM
Update: All systems go with the boy scouts. I'm going to ride the route tomorow and sus it out traffic, road condition etc etc and ensure rangers get a heads up and indeed traders in Yea.

FINALLY managed to get hold of someone from Pink Ribbon ( harder than you think to donate money to some charities...) I have received their fundraising kit, filled outt he form but before I sign anytrhing I want to read the guidelines :)

Soooo if anyone is looking for something to do tomorrow apart from the peninsula ride that VixenAndrea has organised, feel free to be at Chirnside park SC about 10am tomorrow. Look for a blue zx9 with a big mf RJAYs touring bag on it.

mickdundee
12-10-08, 02:35 PM
Update yet again. Have faxed the application form off to PR to get the event registered, i've asked them to send badges down so that every donor gets a badge which will have a card backing that is an official receipt of your donation. Tomorrow I gotta buy a cash tin I guess and organise change for a float.

The forecast for Saturday (at this stage is below.)

Saturday Change later. Min 12 Max 29

Have Fri & Sat off this week & would love to do it, the guilt gets to me sometimes though if I have to leave Linc on our only day off together, especially considering I happily dumped him for last wkends ride...

Had a look Vixen at the two-bays link you put up, their website not too bad either, they've got all their upcoming events listed well in advance too. Saw mention of the Peninsula toy run, reckon that'd be great.
Thanks for directions too for Saturday, was talking to someone at work today & they told me a way to cut through Yellingbo that'd be quiet and quick on a Saturday morning too. Now I've just gotta see if I can wangle another wkend day away! If there's any way I can possibly go, I will.

Sorry guys, just spoken to my brother, turns out we're gonna go for a ride with his mate through Korumburra out towards Warragul on Friday, he said he's heard the roads/scenery are comparable to Tassie. His mate's just bought a new VFR800 & is dying for a ride so im gonna tag along, which means I should stay home for the Saturday to be with Linc, otherwise it's a couple wkends in a row without being around for him. Good luck everyone, have fun, ride safely, hope you raise lots of $$$, sorry I can't bring my breasts, I'm sure Vixen will miss them!!!! Hehehe Mine weren't bought either, just inherited!!!

I realise Ben that it was probably pretty hard NOT to look after Vixen called out something like "Geez girl look at your tits!" I think most of the people in the carpark looked when they heard that.. Yep, I look at 'em everyday and will still never understand why men are so drawn to boobies, I think they're sooo over-rated, seems everyone that has them doesnt want tham, and people who missed out, are dying for some! Hehehe I try and hide them but it never works, I guess I can just thank my mum (and dad atually, a rather large set of man boobs) for giving me their boobs! But thanks for trying anyway Ben. Next time I come for a ride, I'll be strapping them down!

85 bikes at Chirnside park was the offical count and 3 more at Yarra Glen. Not sure how many made it to Maroondah dam but I guess 70 odd.

Yet to tally up but think we raised about $800 odd :D I'll be talking to WIMA tomorrow and enquire if they are rekindling it next year but if not then I guess we go around again.

Ride to Yea was good, chance to blast a few cobwebs outta my carbs and Chum Creek rd is just beautiful. It was inevitable that a few would turn early and head down Myers creek rd but all good.

I heard there was an off prior to Yea anyone know any of the details? Also some saddlebags blown off the back of a bike I hear.

I heard there was an off prior to Yea anyone know any of the details? Also some saddlebags blown off the back of a bike I hear.
I think the off may of been just a loose/hanging gear lever( fixed on the spot with the help of Joffa) no injuries...

OK, HATS OFF to MICK for getting this show on the road, well done son, impressive piece of organisation. (and you kept your sanity)

Bloody fantastic day, here are some pics. (may have to do part 1 & part 2, maximum 4 pics per post). That HUGE thing on the back of Mick's bike isn't a house, it's the world's largest R-Jays pack.

There was an off near Yea, busted headlight & indicator, nothing dramatic. BUT: on the way home, Main Road in Eltham was completely closed off, plod detouring traffic up past MacDonald's. I rang my sister (lives in Eltham) when I got home & she said very nasty, motorcycle cleaned up by 4WD outside the pub. Don't know whether it was one of ours.

well thanks for setting us straight vixen and mick, i should of known ben would only talk crap.

Devo, without this ride the charity would be some $700 worse off. I would have liked a sh!tload more riders for sure and indeed a lot more to arrive at the dam and contribute as indeed was the purpose of the whole thing, but i'm not unhappy with the result.

It's given me a heads up for next year of what can be done better (assuming I go around again next year).

As for a ride report, well there are reports on both Nutrider and indeed KSRC so between 3 forums you cvan probably assemble a fairly good ride report.

Pics are lacking cos of my stupidity but i'll blame it on my mate who is off to Cambodia today so Friday night was a pub send off, and well, the rest is history :D

Vic put on a great show today for the Mick Dundee Pink Ribbon ride. The sun was shining, people from a variety of lifestyles, bike types and even forums turned up, with about 85 bikes decending on Chirnside Park.

My day started at the 8:30am meeting point...

Then we joined a couple of others at Chirnside park...

A couple of policemen joined us for coffee and a chat and then we went for a quiet ride in the hills. 70-80Km later someone got the munchies, so one or two of us stopped at the Bakery

Here a couple of police joined us, and set about taking photos of the burn outs some hoons in cars had done on the grass the night before. I snapped a pic of a gleaming Z1300...

We retraced our steps along a nice set of open sweepers at a sedate pace and onto the not so slow and boring Chum Creek road. We finally arrived at the designated park where some cub scouts were serving well needed ice cold soft drinks.

Bluey found a nice spot in the shade... and I ambled around meeting new people and having agreat time.

Thanks to Mick for organising, and everyone for turning up and making it a great day out.

Mick,

The early turned off prior Yea was a rider o0 an Can-Am (3 Wheelers).
I heard his bike did handle too well on the road, so he pulled out.

The person had their saddlebags blown-off managed to get them back, thanks to the Ulysses people who were riding behind.

It was a great day out.
Well done Mick.

Cheers,

Someone on Nutrider asked why my account was banned so thought I shoul;d reply, so I did below :P

cause mick is banned from here Um, why's he been banned?

You better read this quick as no doubt 85 moderators will remove it and the associated acount real quick :D

I am banned as I succeeded in doing something the might of Vic and Nutrider with 12000+ members couldn't.

I organised a motorcycle ride to donate funds for charity, didn't raise as much as I would like but still the charity is $700 better off than if I would have thrown my hands in air and said something like "Due to all the yeah thanks mate we'll help type emails we received, this event is cancelled".

All moneys will be forwarded to the charity within the week as I am still selling stuff for said charity.

If you want to contact me pm someone as no point slapping my details up here as this post will be removed pretty smartly I bet.

Thanks to all tha turned up and donated, i'll probably be doing it again next year but don't come looking to Nutrider for the gory details as they won't be here!!!

Stuff available is cloth pink ribbon $2, wrist bands $3, pens $7, fridge magnets $5, key rings (metal) $5 and last but by no means least, Pink diamonte pins for $10. Think that's all their was :) Still got 2 full express post bags would be rapt to move as much as I can save sending it back of course :D

There was some concern over the insurance thing, i've been told if I want to go around next year we can follow the same plan as this year, but if it gets any bigger then PL insurance will have to come into play... let me get through the Eureka run andn the Toyrun then i'll start contemplating my navel and next year.

Would have liked to have known really who I got and from where as I probably can discount Nutrider being of any assistance next year :D not that they wre this year but at least my topic was there till the end even if I wasn't.

Most insurance crap will incude a requirement that all participants be licenced and participating at their own risk - it's not hard to put together a form including:
- "where did you hear about this ride?" (list of checkboxes)
- "why aren't you a member of kawariders?" ([]non-kwaka-bike []too stoopid []not cool enough []scared of bens369/devo []all of above)

I just had my fork seals done and 2 bolts on RHS of the bottom triple clamp were loose to the point I could hand tighten them by quite a bit, about an inch (2,5cm fir you metric pps) visible of the bolt where I should normally see the head and nothng more so back to the mechanic tomorrow to get that rectified!!
